Meet the woman behind the words.

Christian’s passion lies in uplifting the voices of those often silenced, holding institutions accountable through accurate, evidence-based journalism and using her writing as a vehicle for impactful change.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, much of Christian’s creative writing is inspired by her experience as a Black woman living in the Pacific Northwest.

Christian has been working at The Columbian in Vancouver, Washington, since June 2023, where she covers the health and nonprofit sectors of Southwest Washington.

Since she began as a Charles Snowden intern immediately after graduating college, she’s written over 250 articles for The Columbian and has consistently used her skills to complete timely, accurate reporting.

Her skills include copywriting, reporting, copyediting, creative direction and stellar communication.

When Christian isn’t writing, she’s reading work by some of her favorite authors — namely, James Baldwin, Audre Lorde and Caleb Azumah Nelson — writing poetry, practicing her guitar and singing.

Christian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon.
